Emsland Bibliography

Preliminary bibliography for recent genealogy and local history, with cross-references (generally, see the bibliography by Harren and Scholübbers, below, for items published prior to 1982). I have mostly omitted works on modern history as such (WWI through the present) unless, like the one on the 1946 floods, the title appeared to indicate that there might be reminiscences, etc. Edition Temmen in Bremen has published a whole series on the concentration camps in the Emsland, for example. I have omitted them because they did not appear to have much potential applicability to the genealogical of the Emsland families in the 17th-19th centuries, which is the focus of my research. I also omitted most titles pertaining to regional planning, art history and historic preservation, etc.
