- Founded: 1748/9 and called Neubeschenowa (to distinguish it from the existing
Altbeschenowa which was mainly settled by Bulgarians), by its
first group of German colonists. These were soon followed by
another group in 1750. The church was built in 1750/51 and the
cemetary consecrated in 1751. Further groups followed in 1752
(mainly from the Black Forest area) and in 1755 (deportees from
the Hauenstein area). By 1778, the community had 219 houses.
