Our library is a reference library (more than 1200 volumes, mainly in German), located in the Haus der Donauschwaben. Its strong points include, among others, immigration, settlement, genealogical and reference works, community histories, family kinship books and copies of church registers.

Danube Swabian history

The origin of Danube Swabian settlers

Migration to and within the former Austro-Hungarian Empire

Archival materials and directories

Family history research techniques

History of  individual families

Heimatbücher - describe the history of a village

Ortssippenbücher - describe all families of a village

Maps and gazetteers

Other genealogical magazines.

Abstracts from Kirchenbücher (church records) of a village: This collection includes schematisms and indices of church registers, above all from the dioceses of the regions of emigration. These holdings are listed in the Handbuch (manual, handy guide) of AKdFF. Transcription of the church registers, as well as the work on the family kinship books, are the most important projects of the regional working groups. Their leaders are knowledgeable and have at their disposal fundamental works on their geographical area of research.

Microfilms of church records of many Danube Swabian villages: The acquisition of microfilmed church registers is one of the most important goals of our organisation. Without church registers, which retain their worth even after our lifetimes, there is no family research. They are our most important resource on Danube-Swabian history. Three microfilm readers and a copier are available in our office.
